Pediatric Cancer Facts
When Mckenna’s pathology came back that she was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma(DMG) we sat stunned in complete disbelief after being told there is “no known cure” for her type of pediatric cancer. We quickly learned kids with DMG and Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) have a median life expectancy of 6-12 months. We were devastated!
How could we be one of the leading nations scientifically, yet there is not a cure for our child. In the days to follow, we learned so many facts about pediatric cancer including:
- Childhood cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in the U.S in children 4 to 14.
- Only 4% of the federal government’s annual cancer research budget is allocated to pediatric cancer research.
- 47 children are diagnosed with cancer every single day.
- Only 4 new cancer drugs have been developed for children since 1980.
Together we can help these children bravely fight childhood cancer. We rely on people like you to help advance our mission to support pediatric patients and families, advocate for change, and fund important research.
If you would like to know more about our organization or join the fight simply go to the get involved page. You can also become a monthly donor today to immediately make an impact on families who are navigating a pediatric cancer diagnosis. A monthly gift of $10 or more could change the life of a child and family facing the unimaginable. We can all lock arms and bravely fight together.
“How wonderful it is that no one has to wait even one minute to start gradually changing the world!”
